The Other Side

The river you painted is blue.

Deep and vast. A wide open world of bright and happy.

But I’m broken. Like shards of wood left after making fire.

Shallow.

There is a flower not far from me and it has turned brown from age.

Flowers you once gave me.

I see us a million miles from where we are and dancing in a land of happy.

My memories are light.

Graceful.

Forgetful as the night my mind wonders to what life should be like.

If you were here holding me like the first time.

Your touch still lingers just like your smile.

The world is empty.

Gray. Basic. Void.

But I think of you and you bring me back to life.
